Intercollegiate Band

We are pleased to welcome Paula Holcomb of the State University of New York at Fredonia as the 2022 Western/Northwestern Division Intercollegiate Band Conductor.

The Western/Northwestern CBDNA Intercollegiate Band provides students with a unique opportunity to work with a renowned conductor and collaborate with quality musicians from throughout the western U. S. and Canada. Students from 4-year and 2-year institutions are eligible. The rehearsals take place during the biannual Western/Northwestern combined divisions CBDNA Conference and culminate in a performance as the final event of the conference.

Who is eligible:

  • Undergraduate or graduate students who are a current members of their college/university instrumental program located within the Western or Northwestern CBDNA division (AK, AZ, HI, ID, MT, NV, OR, UT, WA, WY, British Columbia or Alberta). 
  • Directors must be a current member of CBDNA.
  • Nominate below. No audition required.

When:

  • March 16-19, 2022.

  • University of Puget Sound, Tacoma, WA

Guest Conductor:

  • Paula Holcomb, State University of New York at Freedonia.
    • Conducted in 42 states, Hong Kong, Singapore, China, South America, Australia, Mexico, Europe, and Canada.
    • Presented conducting symposiums in Canada, South America, Australia, Europe, Asia, and the United States

Cost:

  • Registration: $75 per student.
  • Transportation, food, and lodging are the responsibility of each school’s director and/or participating students. 

Due Dates:

  • Call for ICB Nominations: Oct. 18, 2021 
  • Nominations due: Nov. 12, 2021
  • Invoices sent for participation fees: Nov 19, 2021
  • Due Date for participation fees: Dec. 17, 2021

NOMINATE:

  • NOMINATE STUDENTS – Directors are encouraged to nominate skilled instrumentalists and consider balanced instrumentation. 
  • Per the policy of the host university, ALL conference attendees, including members of performing groups and the ICB, will be required to show proof of their COVID19 vaccination. Please, nominate only students who are currently vaccinated or agree to be vaccinated by March 1, 2022. Verifications will be the responsibility of each nominating director. Information on how to relay the verification information to the event organizers and/or host institution will be sent soon.
