The Western and Northwestern divisions of the College Band Directors National Association have commissioned Shuying Li compose a work for wind band to be premiered at the Western/Northwestern conference in March 2024. Institutions are invited to become members of the commission consortium for a fee of $500.
- Benefits: score/parts in electronic PDF format; following premiere by the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts Wind Ensemble at the conference, March, 2024, exclusive performance rights to consortium members through May 15, 2025; recording of the premiere performance; names of consortium institutions and conductors to be listed in score/program notes
- Description: single movement, grade 3+, 5-7 minutes, standard wind band instrumentation, standard percussion (e.g., four timpani, bells, chimes, marimba, vibraphone, xylophone, bass drum, snare drum, tom-toms, cymbals—any additional miscellaneous percussion to constitute a small list)
- Timeline: payment of fee by consortium members by April 1 , 2024; score/parts in electronic PDF format and recording to consortium members by June 1, 2024.
